Only year or full year? That is here the question…

Post by Philologist »

For journal articles I want the first citation to have a full date, but subsequent citations year-only. Is this possible?

Enabling or disabling the button “Use year-only for date” seems to apply to BOTH first citations and subsequent citations. Or in other words, if I disable the option (= “Use year-only for date”) then subsequent citations will have only the year (and that’s what I want), but the first citation will then unfortunately also have only year (and that’s what I DON’T want).

Would it be possible to add another button to allow only year for subsequent citations?

Thank you

You could achieve this by entering the year in a user field and specifying that in the Subsequent order field.

Luckily, one user field was free, so I turned it into a “year” field. That did the trick.

Thank you.
