Help! Upgrade lost database

I upgraded to version 9 without repairing my databases in 8 and now I can't open any of them. I re-downloaded 8 to try to repair them, as you instructed, but now I can't open them in 8 either.

When I try to open version 9, I get an error message: "This database cannot be opened by this version of Bookends." However, in the newly downloaded version 8, the database files are not recognized at all.

What's going on?

I don't know -- the conversion does not touch the original file at all (it makes a copy first). Zip and send me a small database, if possible, that is going you problems.
