If you missed it, please see our announcement about bringing full-featured citation management to academic writing on the iPad with the combination of Bookends for iOS and Mellel Mobile. A short video tour shows how they work together to generate publication-ready documents. You can even export the finished product as a Word document to be shared with others or submitted.

If you buy or already own Bookends for iOS, you can activate a 3 month free trial of Premium, which enables scanning. Bookends users who already have the Premium subscription have immediate access to these features. Mellel offers a similar 3 month free trial of their Premium features when you make their Standard in-app purchase.

The interaction between both apps on the iPad is simply fantastic. Previously, writing manuscripts on the iPad was a cumbersome process, but now it is remarkably smooth.

Even after exporting Mellel documents created on the iPad to DOCX format, they can be unscanned and re-scanned with Bookends on macOS, which I did not anticipate.

On macOS, I haven't used Mellel until now, as I often collaborate on manuscripts with co-authors who exclusively use Microsoft Word. Therefore, I would
need to convert to DOCX for each round of revisions.

@Jon, shouldn't your post be moved to the "Bookends for iOS" section?

It should be in Announcements and referred to by a post in both forums I think. I'm on vacation so it will be a bit before I get around to that, though.
