Lost attachments (stored in iCloud)

Hi,

I've been having problems the last few months with attachments going missing. I think I've finally deduced that my Mac is moving files off my internal drive and just keeping them in the cloud, presumably to save space, causing Bookends to fail to find the attachment.
I'm wondering: If I clear out a lot of miscellaneous files (i.e. non-Bookends-related) from my internal drive, will my Mac stop offloading Bookends files? Or is there perhaps a way to tell my Mac not to offload files in the Bookends attachment folder?

Thanks for any help,
Rick

Bookends has an option to force download of PDFs moved to iCloud. It's in Settings -> iOS. Make sure it's checked.

You can use System Settings -> Storage -> Store in iCloud to disable automatic storage of Documents and Desktop files in iCloud. Or, I suspect, you could move your default attachment folder out of Documents and (and updating Bookends Settings accordingly), in which case I think macOS won't back them up. You may already have them in a file sync service folder like Dropbox, in which case they are already backed up in the cloud.
