Hi,
I am just evaluating Bookends, and want to see how easy it is to import single citations as downloaded from sites such as Blackwell Synergy. These are the formats offered:
Format:

EndNote
BibTex
ProCite
Medlars
Reference Manager

Direct import? Y/N

As Blackwell Synergy doesnt offer RIS specifically, I am hoping that one of their formats can be brought straight in to Bookends once saved. If I choose EndNote the text generated looks like this:

Choosing Direct Import just saves the file to desktop without an extension. I have tried appending with .ris, but this doesn't work. Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I have looked in the manual and these threads.

Hi,

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking (it may be multipart), but here's what you do:

1. The file you show is in EndNote (Refer) format (that't the name of the Bookends importer).

2. You can import by drag and drop on a database window. If the file type isn't TEXT, you add .txt to the name, or drop it with the Shift key held down (and Bookends will treat it like a TEXT file).

You can also import with the File -> Import References menu, and if you have questions about this let me know.
