I'm just trying out NWE, I tried asking on their forums, but didn't get any help. Apparently there used to be a macro that isn't there anymore. If I try to scan a document from Bookends, I get the bibliography on the clipboard (can you get it to use indents after the first line of each reference?) but it doesn't replace my citation delimiters in my text.

I would like to, but I'm considering NWE for the reasons being hashed out in the Mellel forums about retaining styles with RTF export. Right now I'm usinig Word X. But that's another subject...

Hi,
Did you check "Create New File" when you did the scan? I'm guessing you didn't...

P.S. It seems Nisus has finally fixed a bug that prevented the Scan macro from working. I may add it back to the Bookends release package at some point.

Aha, it works if you do that. I also noticed that for some reason using cmd-Y didn't work a few times for pasting the citation. I was able to right-click and use Copy Citation.
Also, I suppose I'd be out of luck in terms of getting the indented format for the bibliography?
Thanks...

I think the indented format should work (I think Bookends includes the formatting code for scanned RTF documents). If not, it's a simple matter to adjust the ruler in NWE for outdenting (should take all of 15 seconds or so) -- Bookends should at least include the leading tab for each references.

It looks like the ruler settings (and the tab) aren't being included. I'll look into that...
OK, if you send the bibliography to disk, it will have the hanging indent. But if you send it to the Bibliography Window it won't (because Bookends editfields don't have rulers, etc.).
If you want to send to the Bib Window anyway, a useful trick is to place a tab (?, or Option-J) at the beginning of the format order for each Type. That makes it easy in NWE to simply select the bibligraphy and move the margin/indent settings in the ruler to have the entire bib outdented.

I've restored the NWE macro for scanning a document (you need NWE 2.6 or later for this to work). It's in 9.0.2 beta 4 if you want to try it.
