I've grown fond of BE's Refs/Duplicate command -- very handy when one needs to create an item while in List view.
But I find the Command key sequence for it a little outre. Might I suggest changing it in future versions of BE, from Command-Shift-Plus, to Command-D, as in the Finder and many other apps? This would mean changing the Refs/Delete Command key combination, from Command-D to something else. I would suggest Command-[-] -- that is, Command-[hypen/minus], as is also common in other apps.

Change Command-Key sequence for Duplicate & Delete?
I'm not all that comfortable with this. None of the applications which I personally use regularly delete items with Command-[-]. FileMaker Pro, which of course began life as an Apple product, uses Command-E to delete records. EndNote uses Command-D, just the same as Bookends does. I think it would be asking for trouble to change a fundamental keyboard shortcut that has been in use on both of the main Mac bibliography programs for the past 15 years. If Command-shift-+ is too ungainly for duplication of references, I suggest it will cause a lot less turmoil to just find a new two-key combo for that instead of messing with ingrained Endnote/Bookends learned behaviour.
Personally I've now gotten used Command-shift-+ for duplicating records (which is a great addition) and like it fine.
Just my two cents.

Jonathan makes a good point -- a case can be made here, of course, for preserving the key commands once they have entered the UI, as users will naturally expect them in that form. If EN used Command-D -- I had forgotten this -- then perhaps that should be preserved in BE, as users migrating from one to the other will find that the most normal procedure. I proposed the change because I find the current Duplicate sequence a little unwieldy. YMMV. Jon, perhaps you should just leave things as they are, if many other users object to the changes I proposed.jadrain wrote:I'm not all that comfortable with this.
