Feature request: "Get Database Info"

OK, at risk of asking for more stuff that others may not want or like :-) -- here's a feature I'd like to see added to future iterations of BE: a "Get Database Info" command (under the File menu, above "Database Maintenance"?), which would bring up a window showing all this information in one place

-- Name of the currently-active database, file path, etc.
-- Size of the database, in MB
-- Date and time of the last modification
-- Number of records in the database as a whole
-- Number of records in the current Hit list
-- Number of unique items in each term list

I realize that this info is available elsewhere, but not in one place where one might be able to browse it all at the same time. It might be appropriate to enable the menu command only when the List View is in the foreground.

Also of interest in such a window, and possibly of value for spotting when/if database maintenance is needed:

-- An indication of fragmentation and free space
-- An indication -- is this even possible? -- of a need to reindex or rebuild

There must be other such data that might fit in such a window. I'm just thinking aloud.

Hi tharpold,

I've thought of something like this, too, although I don't know how useful it would really be. One thing I can comment on is your request for rebuild/reindex status. Bookends 9.0.4 will have some very nice new features in this regard.

I think of the first list -- of stats re number of records, term types, etc. -- primarily as a way to scope out how big and complex one's database is getting, something that not everyone will care about, but those who maintain separate DBs may. Under some circumstances, knowing some of that info might be of use for problem solving, say, if there were a "Copy Info" button in the window that copied all that information to the Clipboard, so that a user having a difficulty with the app could easily gather these and other stats of use to you.

Am looking forward to enhancements re the rebuild/reindex. Each new iteration of BE offers pleasant surprises (!)
