Trouble enabling *some* of the Import Filter Manager

I just purchased Bookends today I have the feeling I am missing something basic here but I am just not able to figure out what I need from either the manual or these forums.
I am trying to enable the Import Filter Manager for "Web Of Science", and Jstor and a few others.
I am going
File -> Import Filter Manager -> Then I check the boxes in the Filter List next to the appropriate Filter Names. I then click "Done".
I then go:
Utilitites -> Internet Search *Some* of the new filters I have checked show up, but not others, in particular Web Of Science and JStor .
Am I doing something wrong?
Best,
Joe

The filters that do not show up in Internet Search (WOS, for example) are only able to parse files downloaded from the web (or wherever). To do an Internet Search (the analog of the EndNote Connection File), you need to enable Internet Search for these filters (and fill out the corresponding search parameters). These only work with Z39.50-compatible servers (WOS and JSTOR do not -- so please do not try this with these filters -- they are not "internet enabled" on purpose).

Ah! So what you are saying is that WOS is designed to only work with files you have downloaded outside of bookends and then want to bring into Bookends?
If that is the case then it might be useful to have under File -> Import Filter Manager -> Filter List a hairline break at some point in the list with the first section being labeled as "Internet Search Capable Filters" and below the hairline "External File Import Filters". I think that would be a clean way to avoid confusion without having to introduce a new menu or something.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi Joe,
The ones that are internet search-compatible are already denoted -- their names are italicized.

Thanks Jon! I see that now in your user guide on page 59.
It might be simply a function of my monitor but the difference between the itailcs and the bold did not really jump off my screen at me. So I would still offer up my suggestion at the top of this post as a consideration.

Hi,
Frankly, I don't think it's a good idea. That means having two concatenated sorted lists, which would only confuse people (for one, you might miss the second list of filters at the bottom, and it would make scrolling-as-you type problematic). I don't really think there's much of a problem in need of fixing.
