numbered references

Post by psykolog@mac.com »

I am having trouble getting my reference in the text to show as a number matching my citation in the bibliography.
Instead, I am getting too much info ie: author's name, article title, etc.
This is what I want:
bla bla bla(1, 9) bla bla...
I have searched the manual without figuring it out.
Thanks
Jon

Hi,

You don't say what format you are using. Presumably it is using a custom citation format for the in-text citations. You want to change the format so that it cites "by number". Go to the "Bib & Citation Options" tab in the format definition, where you can set this.

hi Jon,
Using Bookends 9.0.4 on Apple PB.

I am hope to be able to set up this format:

Today the topic of unconsciouss processes(1) was on the agenda instead of conditioning(2). More discussion will be presented......

References.
1 Freud, S, year, title, publisher(APA 5th ed.)
2 Skinner, BF, year, title, publisher(APA 5th ed.

Thanks,

The APA bibliography is alphabetized and unnumbered. If you want a numbered bibliography with numbered citations in the text, choose another, or create a New format based on APA 5th and edit it to whatever you want. The User Guide has details on how to create/modify formats to suit your needs.
