It's great having reader reviews from Amazon included in the BE abstracts field. Is it possible to also include the 505 abstract field when doing searches in libraries? Perhaps I'm missing another option here. But I also like having that information (chapters of edited volumes or abstracts of the work) included in searches and my references.
I was also wondering if Reference Miner will be "built into" BE 8, or will it remain a separate application?
Thanks in advance.
Abstract field (505)

Just add 505 to the LOC filter (Abstract tag). You can edit the filter to taste -- it is very easy.

505 0- (a)
Hmm, I'm still missing something here. Do I need to add the 0- (a) or 505a? I first tried simply 505 under the abstract field. But that did not work. So I changed it to 505a, which didn't seem to work either. I'll check the help file, too.
TIA.

You're searching with Reference Miner, right? Importing from the Library of Congress?
If so, you must edit the LOC filter. View the record you are trying to import. If the abstract is in the 505 tag, after a $a, then you would use
505a
FWIW, the LOC filter we ship already does this, but puts the info in the Notes field, not Abstract. So you'll have to change that.
Also, note that *many* LOC entries don't have a 505 tag. So check to make sure the ones you are importing have that info.

Thanks for your prompt reply Jon. Actually, my mistake. The search that included 505 information was through my university library, not LOC. Thus it did not show up even after I edited the LOC filter. Version 8 will allow for greater selection in searches, so I'll try making the change after it comes out.

Steven
