Out of curiosity, will BE support open document format?
The reason I ask is because I tried the RTF document scan in BE with a document I wrote in NeoOffice, and the results were less than spectacular. Much of the formatting in the original document was lost, although the refs came out fine. I wound up saving the file as an MS-Word document and had to use that to program to finish the formatting, including the refs. If ODF is going to be the new standard (even MS is going to offer their version of it soon) it might make sense to support it, probably with a document scan feature similar to RTF.
(BTW, for those of you who don't know, NeoOffice is the Mac port of OpenOffice. The Beta version of 2.0 is due on 8/1 and it looks great--it will have a native finder dialog, among other Aqua features).
