Font change in reference following emoji
I am citing a tweet using a custom reference type and a customized version of Chicago (Author-Date) format. For some reason, four letters in the title of the tweet immediately following an emoji consistently appear in a different font (Helvetica) than the rest of the text (Times New Roman). This hap...

Re: Lock temporary citations in a word document
Word for Windows allows one to selectively lock text like this, but that is of course no help here. If you do not mind sharing the document with citations formatted, you can turn the "Field shading" options to Always (Word Preferences > View) that will at least make the citations stand out...

Re: Adding new default reference Types
I'll post it here in case other people find it helpful. I am only posting Treaty as my set-up for Case is a bit of a mess (I actually have multiple Case types for different jurisdictions in different African countries, most of which would probably be of no interest to many Bookends users). And, yeah...

Re: Adding new default reference Types
I think a Dataset type might be helpful to many (based on how often I see students ask about citing datasets and it is a frequent request on Zotero's formers). Some legal types might be useful, such as Treaty and Case. If you want to go down that route, Jon, I am happy to share how I have set these ...

Custom field names Fiels dropdown in Formats Manager
Not sure if this is a bug, by design, if I am doing something wrong (the latter is a distinct possibility). I am trying to create a new format and I have customized some fields for the reference type "Internet." In the Format Manager, these customization appear in the Fields dropdown on th...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
Ok just sent. There are no error messages but I included screenshots of the empty library and the add dialog box.

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
I did some troubleshooting, or attempted to. Following suggestions above, I created a new library. Copied a coupe of references from the old library to ensure that the new library had something in it. Tried to add two different PDFs as new references. In both cases, they attached to the selected one...

Re: Bookends keeps attaching new PDF to existing reference
Resurrecting this thread as I started experiencing this problem in the last two days. This is with Bookends 14.02 and Monterey. I am not using the Watch Folder but manually dropping PDFs into the library. This happens with several different PDFs and with different references selected in the library....

Re: Cannot assign tags to PDF any longer
Update - I tried it again on a different Mac running Big Sur (11.5.2) and it worked fine. So must be something in the Monterey beta I assume.

Cannot assign tags to PDF any longer
I am not sure if this started with 14.0 or earlier, but it seems like I can no longer assign tags to PDFs from within Bookends (using the tag bar above the attachment preview). What more, tags assigned to the PDF outside of Bookends no longer appear in the bar. I have ensured that Bookends have the ...

"Atomic failure" when syncing after upgrading to 14.0
Since upgrading to 14.0 I get this error when syncing. See screenshot.
I have tried to repair, rebuild, reindex library with no difference. I assume that there is one specific record that is causing the trouble, but I cannot figure out which one.

Re: Bracket at the beginning and end of scanned document?
I had this happened to me with a document that had a stray Zotero reference in it. No idea why. I think the way I fixed it was to unlink the Zotero reference before scanning.
Not sure if Zotero actually was the underlying reason or not.
