Re: Inconsistencies When Working with Attachments

> P.S. I suspect you won't be using the Attachments tab after the next update, and some (not all) of this will be moot.

OK. I'll step back for the next update.

Re: Inconsistencies When Working with Attachments

> Almost all options in that gear popup relate to attachments, they have no meaning for any other kind of document. In the section to manage attachments, a Webarchive appears as an attachment that I can administer *as with any other kind of document*. attachment.png Yet in the view of attachments, a...

Re: Inconsistencies When Working with Attachments

Just so that we agree on what we disagree about. The ability to manage an attachment through the menu options under the gear icon in this toolbar is useful. withpdf.png I suggest that the ability to manage an attachment through the menu options under the gear icon should remain visible even when the...

Re: Inconsistencies When Working with Attachments

Having the gear icon still remain active and show actions to administer the attachment even when the attachment itself is non-readable would save the step of having to (remember how to) go to the Attachments Inspector to administer the attachment. This is a request to help streamline this particular...

Inconsistencies When Working with Attachments

I have a few observations about the approaches taken to work with Attachments. * When I show a PDF Attachment in the right-most pane, the Gear menu option says Rename PDF. The first menu option however says Open Attachment With ... When I context click on the reference in the center pane, the menu o...

Re: Dark mode makes Authors, Title, Journal and Date text invisible

The difference I am trying to convey is in the appearance of which portions of the view are "off-color" as designations of required fields. I would find an approach that has the FIELDS honor the settings for light/dark mode and instead sets the TITLES to a distinct color when the field has a special...

Re: Dark mode makes Authors, Title, Journal and Date text invisible

Chiming in as one who has not (yet) used these features. Can the colors of the TITLES to the fields be toggled to indicate the BibTeX required fields instead of toggling the fields themselves? Would this be a more appropriate approach to keep the fields consistent in light or dark mode? Would this b...

Re: Sort search results?

I might summarize to help clarify my request. One of my biggest issues with an on line search is that I cannot get efficient access to the most recent publications for the search terms. I am stuck trying to brute force my way through the list to determine whether any new publications have been poste...

Pardon me. I should have been clearer. On-line.

Sort search results?

Can we sort the results of a search, for example by publication year or journal?

Re: Requests: Changes to Input Lines for Searches

For example, consider in an arXiv search that I want to change this line:

nanoparticle film AND Langmuir AND "last 1 year" [dp]

to:

nanoparticle AND "Langmuir film" AND "last 1 year" [dp]

I am stuck trying to edit a line that appears this way [...]angmuir AND "last 1 year" [dp]

Requests: Changes to Input Lines for Searches

* It would be helpful when the advanced search editor window (eg PubMed) would populate itself with the terms from the most recent search. I am doing advanced searches that I wish to modify on the fly. The cumbersome aspect of this is that I have to re-enter the search terms each time. * It would be...

Re: Request: On SQL Error -> to Editor (or Syntax Check Button)?

It would also be extremely helpful when the SQL/Regex Search dialog input window would NOT close automatically with clicking the Search button. The process to test and retest and test yet again has become a tedium of opening and re-opening and re-opening again on that dialog window.

Overview: Complex Text Searches in Bookends

I am posting this with the thought that it might help users who are interested in doing complex text searches on their databases. It is a summary of my initial findings as I learn to work within the search approaches used by Bookends. First, the best text search criteria will not work well if at all...
