Re: bst output style file import to Bookends?

I took a look, it's a garden variety format. I created it. If you want that please write to support@sonnysoftware.com.

Re: bst output style file import to Bookends?

I do not. Have you tried Biblio -> Create Format Catalog? It shows examples of all the formats we ship, and one or more are likely to be what you want (or close to it, and can be tweaked). There aren't that many variations in scientific journals.

Re: [features request] Proxy, PDF & Group automation

— groups and folders could be alphabetically sorted This feature will appear in the next update. — PDF inside a group were automatically tagged with predefined group "tag" It's not automatic, but you can add a tag to many PDFs at once with Refs -> Global Change -> Modify PDF Tags Jon Sonny Software

Re: Floating citations multiple refs

Assuming you mean ordering of citations within a group...you have a space between the citations, so that are NOT grouped. Either remove the spaces, or enter them explicitly as in one group: {temp cite1; temp cite2, temp cite3} Alphabetize references is a separate setting that is NOT for rearranging ...

Re: New MacBook Pro and Scanning command missing

I don't know. Check to makes sure Bookends.dotm is checked in the Templates and Add-ins menu. You can see the add-ins and the files themselves in the Bookends Folder -> Scripts for MS Word and make sure they're in the right location.

Re: LOC failed to initialize search

I see that too, I expect there is some problem with the server Bookends is using. I'll take a look.

In the meantime, enable and use the filter "Library of Congress Z39.50.fltr". That's working.

Re: Notestream buggy in latest release (13.2.7)?

Nothing has changed in this feature in the last release. If it's just one PDF then there's some problem with it. If it's all PDFs please contact tech support with a SIMPLE example and tell us how to reproduce it.

Re: Editing citations in MS Word

No need to convert to text, just edit the field in place. But there's a better option -- Bookends lets you do things like removing the author on an ad hoc basis with metacharacters. For instance, {-temp cite} would remove authors. Check out the user guide for how temporary citations work, and for a ...

Re: Book chapter: chapter title versus book title

1. You can do a Find by Type (Book Chapter) and do a Global Change on the hits. 2. There is a list of words maintained in Preferences whose case won't change when you apply a case (check to make sure it applies to Global Change, too, I can't check that myself at the moment). 3. Do this on a COPY of ...

Re: Book chapter: chapter title versus book title

No. It goes a bit against the philosophy of having text styling controlled by the format, but you can use Global Change to change the case of any field in batch. The in the format use "as entered" for case.

Re: [Feature Request] Full SQL Support

I'm reluctant to hand that kind of power over to people who may not know how to use it.

Note that you can use the free Valentina Studio app to work with Bookends databases. A full UI and all the power of Valentina.

Re: Apple Pages, full reference and original formats

1. I haven't tried Pages '09 in a long time -- have you tried Biblio -> Scan Open Apple Pages Document?

2. You can use Copy Formatted instead of Copy Citation.

3. Remove the edited versions from the Custom Formats folder (in the Bookends folder).

It works in my tests -- please contact tech support with screen snaps of the reference you're formatting so I can see the authors and editors field and the format you are using.
