Re: Import PDF problems

Hmm. All the issues seem to stem from trying to drag-and-drop files onto Bookends to create a new reference. Here's how it goes. Skimming the 'net, I find an article I'm interested and save it locally as a PDF. I open Bookends, and drag-and-drop the file onto the Bookends window. An 'Attach to Empty...

Re: Import PDF problems

Same problem here. Did you get any good tips from tech support?

lol.. yep.

I'd never noticed it before either, but the journals in my specialty seem to all be clamping down on it at once - just got back three proofs in a row with requests for that particular correction.

Gladly :D When citing journal articles APA (pg. 240, APA 5th ed. style guide) formatting sometimes requires the issue number, and sometimes does not. If a given journal uses page numbers cumulatively through a volume (i.e., Volume 2(1) uses pages 1-97, volume 2(2) uses pages 98-150, and so forth), t...

I have a similar question to the above. In APA fifth edition, issue numbers are included in the reference section when the journal is paginated by issue, and omitted when they are paginated by volume (as in, each new issue picks up at the page number the last left off at). Is there a way to indicate...

Awesome. In the meantime, I'll use the interim to force myself to actually explore the flexibility of the auto-renaming. I'm one of those people who gets so comfortable in my old habits that I have to get dragged into trying out new ones... :)

I suppose I should trash the Bookends 7 stuff while I'm in there... :D

But, no - after a removal of preferences and full computer restart, it's still not remembering between launches.

Quick addition to this general idea... ... is there a way to set the default to /not/ change the attachment name? While BE 10 holds the setting once I've unchecked it so long as the program remains open, I have to re-uncheck it each time I open the program. (Alternatively, is there a way for me to s...

New thought...

New thought... or, for that matter, if Bookends simply opened PDFs based on their own saved settings rather than the system default. I.E., when you double-click on a PDF saved through Adobe in the Finder it opens to Adobe, and so forth. That way PDFs I'd saved through Adobe, or any other software fo...

While it's not a big deal (and the new preview pane is awesome), I though I'd mention that I have an issue similar to Gerben's when it comes to opening PDFs. Systemwide, I prefer to use Preview, and have the system set to it. However, for my article database I read using Adobe Acrobat, so that I can...

Add me to the key-word-user pile.

Another two cents dropped into the mix: 1) Loving the new version! It's sleeker, the ability to view PDFs directly is glorious, and the toggle buttons at the bottom of the window add a whole lot of flexibility. 2) Keywords. I understand why they moved, but for me, it's inconvenient. Like some of the...

Organizations as authors

A bit of an old thread, but this seems to fit :) Is there any way to mark an author as an organization, so that it remains as-typed in the bibliography? For example, at the moment the DSM-IV is automatically formatted like this: Association, A. P. (2000). Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental ...

Stuff to try.. very cool.

Thanks! I'll mess around till I find a way that works. And if I accidentally delete anything, I'll have no one to blame but myself :D
