Re: Separate editing window
Hi Jon, and hi all, I have just upgraded and I really miss the old editing window, and not for nostalgic reasons. In the old window it was possible to see everything at one glance. The summary pane may be nice, but it's not practicle and I do not like to use it. In the editing window everything is a...

Re: Book and book chapter with same author
Sorry, Jon, that does not solve my problem: 1. Command-' cannot be used on a German keyboard, as the '-character is only accessible with an alt-key combination. – For the same reason command-] (shortcut for "replicate as chapter") is not available on a German keyboard, as the ] character i...
iCloud
Hi Jon,
With Lion and iCloud coming up, it would be great to have the database in the cloud and access it from the iPhone or iPad while on the move.
I have seen the post on an iad version, but will this support iCloud?
Any plans in this direction?

Re: Book and book chapter with same author
The only way I can think of is to leave the author field empty if he/she has the same name as the editor. This is as I handle it. But this brings up another problem for the menu item "Replicate as Book Chapter": There are two ways of replication as Chapter: Same or different author. It wo...

German letter "ß" in Simple Search
Hi all, I had sent this mail to Jon and he sugegsted I'd post it on the forum: I found a funny behaviour in the search dialogue: The simple search does not know the German letter "ß" (sharp s), usually replaced by "ss" in alphabets that have no "ß". I have a reference w...

Hi all, this was 5 years ago …
I wonder if an Indesign plug-in, to support Bookends scanning, is still not under way?

Too bad,
So I'll have to do it the hard way.
Thanks anyhow,

Format available?
Hi Jon, I have to format a paper for a monograph and I can't figure out how to format my data accordingly. Is there a format available for this? Or can you indicate how to create one? The publisher wants intext citations quoted in footnotes with "AUTHOR (year)": Scan100919134139X.jpg I hav...

Re: References without authors
It is of course possible and not unusual, to use "Anon." as an author name and refer to "Anon., Year" in the text which is probably easier than using titles.

Re: Other metatypes
No. sorry. It still does not work. I have defined a type "book chapter" and I have defined a type "book chapter [book]". And I – may be wrongly – expected Bookends to use the "book chapter" formatting, when a book chapter has no link to a linked parent reference and to ...

Re: Other metatypes
Dear Jon, I find the idea of metatypes ingenious. In its present realisation, one can use the metatypes only within in-text citations but not in the list of references (or have I misunderstood something?) What would be more helpful for my purposes would be a possibility of quoting "Chapter auth...

Re: Publication Year Range
Dear Jon, Unchecking "year-only for dates" in the fourth tab of the format window allows me to output year ranges (e.g. 1912-1914) in the list of references. However, the intext citation still displays the first year of the range only: e.g. (Smith, 1912) instead of (Smith, 1912-1914). How ...

Re: Feature request: Sorting Bookends Directory
Dear Jon, I have two questions/suggestions in this context: 1. I have virtually thousands of pdfs for my BE databases. At the time being I have not used the attachment feature as the attachment folder offers only one sub-folder level and I still want to be able to find the files in the finder. I wou...
