So heres what i have done: i goto preferences, set user 4 in field labels to DOI, set for in press reference types.

then edit my default format add field DOI for my in press ...

make sure you have no graphics in the pages document, as BE cant scan rtfd, only rtf

yes works fine, have not encountered any recognition problems at all.
so long as bookends files are not open at time of sync, syncs are fine with no errors.
Make sure the permissions are set as described above.

I reset the permissions to read/write for all user, system and groups, for each library, (on both computers) seems to work fine now.

I tried a demo backup and it refused to replace the libraries ("?permissions error").

ok Jon, is there a way to see if a ref has an attachment in the list without opening its individual ref window. would save making a group for those i dont have pdf's for (which is lots), but need to search or ask around for. is this a worthwhile feature, could it be incorporated into a smart group ...
