The beta is running well and is indeed snappier, as Jon noted. Thanks again for the great work!

Possible to export single field of entire DB?

Looking at Amazon's new Media Library, I noticed that it's possible to add books by their ISBN numbers (purchases from Amazon are automatically added). It would be great to add titles from my BE database to take advantage of Amazon's online book reader (which is part of the media library bookshelf, ...

Re: Visual Basic and Bookends

Future versions of Office for the Mac will no longer have Visual Basic for Applications, apparently because maintaining compatibility between PC and Mac would require a major overhaul for the Intel versions of Macs. I have read that this will cause trouble for EndNotes for the Mac, since it depends...

spd, g is the subfield. You can't have sub-subfields. But looking more closely at you posted text, the subfield is actually t. But I don't think Bookends will collect them all. I think it will stop after the first one. Jon Sonny Software From what I recall, using 505g originally allowed my to get a...

spd, have you tried my suggestion? In my experience it works splendidly? You get the chapter number and and the titles and the authors (if available). Didn't this crash BE? I'm also not sure how to modify the import filter; I see the 505 g fields but need to add subfields, which Jon says is impossi...

Hi, You don't say what the chapter title is in this example. But it looks like they are using numbers after the subfield identifier to put in additional information (e.g. g1, g2, g3). Bookends only works with single-letter subfields (e.g. g), and so it won't import the different subfields you list ...

Import filter manager question

I'm trying to set up an import filter for Columbia University's library. Since their database often includes 505 and 520 fields (chapter titles and book description), this is my preferred library of choice. I'm not sure if Columbia changed their field formatting or if this is the format for newer ti...

Jon,

Is this information available elsewhere on the site? Or is it intended to be a reward for the curious? It's a great story about the provenance of BE.

I would instead consider a new design for the web page...... Of course, it is not the most important thing, but perhaps it would encourage more people to discover this excellent software. Yes, even though more users may very well discover BE since EN charges for every upgrade and Sente now seems to...

Thanks again Jon. The filters will need some editing, as they don't import the files in default mode. I'll refer to the Guide.

Thanks Jon. I looked through some of the filters but am not sure how to go about setting them up. Let me play with it some more.

Import References > File .txt problem

From our school library, I have the option of saving references in different formats to my local hard drive. This is a great option when browsing/searching their records. The options include MARC, ProCite, Endnote/RefWorks. I have saved records in all three formats and have tried unsuccessfully impo...
