Import References > File .txt problem

From our school library, I have the option of saving references in different formats to my local hard drive. This is a great option when browsing/searching their records. The options include MARC, ProCite, Endnote/RefWorks. I have saved records in all three formats and have tried unsuccessfully importing them into my DB. The files are saved locally as .txt files, which is necessary according to the User Guide. But after importing, all fields are empty in BE 9.0.3.

Is there already an import filter that can solve this problem? Or do I need to create one? Or what may my problem be?

Such files are usually variants of either EndNote Refer or RIS, and we provide filters for both.

Simply open the text file and compare it to what these filters are looking for. You'll quickly see which filter to use (and if you have to tweak it to match small variations in the way different sites output the same data).

Thanks Jon. I looked through some of the filters but am not sure how to go about setting them up. Let me play with it some more.

The ones you need are probably already set up (RIS and EndNote Refer). Please download and refer to the User Guide for details in editing, etc.

Thanks again Jon. The filters will need some editing, as they don't import the files in default mode. I'll refer to the Guide.
