I see what you mean -- I hadn't noticed that (Save to application X) in the print menu before. It's something I can look into.

I see it is incorporated into the latest update. Works great. It has saved me a lot of time already. So: Many thanks!

Re: Getting a doc directly into BE

Hi, The first request sounds like it would have to implemented in the app you were printing from. For the second, what do you mean "click on the BE link in my document"? What word processor? Is this a hypertext link created by Bookends? If it is, it should highlight the reference in the L...

Getting a doc directly into BE

I guess this qualifies as a feature request -- I often find myself wishing I could skip a step in my trips between Bookends and other apps. In the first case, I'm using the Print menu to acquire a pdf (or turn a doc into a pdf), and then, extra step, moving this new pdf into Bookends. I makes me wis...

Re: Update install fails

Btw this is what I did last night after my 3 tries with the Sparkle thing -- install from the web page -- and it worked fine. I did indeed recently upgrade to 10.5.6. Looks like that's the culprit.

Update install fails

Update to 10.4.1 fails with a message that `Bookends lacks permission to write to the application's directory.' I have tried changing permissions for everything I can find related to Bookends -- all the folders and subfolders associated with the program in Applications, Application Support and elsew...

I tried with DTP 1.5. New database. New RTF. Drag and drop unique id from Bookends reference window -> hypertext link was inserted. Jon Sonny Software Not working for me. When I drag the unique ID I get plain text in curly brackets; when I do option-command-drag I get plain text, no curly brackets....

hyperlinking to other apps doesn't always work

Trying for better integration between BE and other software, I followed the instructions for embedding a link to a BE reference. With Scrivener, this does work from the List View, with Command-Option drag. The other method -- dragging the unique ID from the reference window -- does not. The system s...

Make sure that the reference Type matches the format Type where you added the 'z'. If that's not the problem, then this is really a tech support issue that can't be solved on a forum. Please contact me directly for tech support. Jon Sonny Software OK, Jon, thanks. I will make certain this is a repl...

It's not a dumb question, but it is answered in the User Guide (section on formatting). You can also see what each letter/symbol means by clicking on the "fields" popup menu in the format. To answer your specific question, z = URL. u5 = user-defined field 5, u = publisher. Jon Sonny Softw...

Displaying URL in the formatted reference

Sorry if this is obvious, but I can't seem to succeed in getting any formatted reference to include the URL field. I need that for Web-based sources that don't come from specialized databases. My problem is this: I go to the formats manager intending to modify an existing format so that it will disp...
