Re: Feature request: Split common settings for primary and secondary citations
You realize that in the temp citation you can override the format's general setting and specify any punctuation you prefer yourself? This is done with backslashes. For example, this temp citation {temp cite@\: \12-15} would result in a colon before the cited page, whereas {temp cite@\, \12-15} woul...

Feature request: Split common settings for primary and secondary citations
Dear John, I’ve said this a number of times in passing, but I would like to propose it specially, too: it would greatly enhance customisability of Bookends, if you could set up at least page-range settings separately for the primary and subsequent citations. The punctuation must in many cases with f...

Re: Dealing with a persistent comma problem in cited pages
Right, but then I couldn’t make use of the page range settings such as abbreviating last pages, etc. Maybe something to think about for a future upgrade?

Dealing with a persistent comma problem in cited pages
I would like to set up my citations in such a manner that there are no commas between the round bracket and page number: e.g. Peter Malik, P.Beatty III (P47): The Codex, Its Scribe, and Its Text (NTTSD 52; Leiden/Boston: Brill, 2017) 46. At the same time, I would, obviously, very much like to have t...

Re: Feature request: Split common settings for short and long citation?
Yes, you're getting me right. One field for the primary citation and one for the secondary citation. I think it would enhance the flexibility of the programme. The point is from my user perspective at least is that I can set up my styles in such a manner as not to spend any extra time with further e...

Re: Feature request: Split common settings for short and long citation?
I know but this would be a more robust and systemic solution.

Feature request: Split common settings for short and long citation?
Hey Jon, I think it'd be great to have actually two sets of common settings for long and short citations, esp. in terms of cited page punctuation. To give a typical example: It's typical in a Chicago/SBL format to put a comma before the cited page(s) in a long citation that ends in a paranthesis, bu...

Yes indeed, Jon. That would be just fine! Thanks in advance for considering that.

a feature request: more options for dropping of names
Hey folks, Let me know your thoughts on this. In my recent email conversation with Jon, I enquired him whether it was normal for Bookends to drop both the name of the author and the editors in case, e.g., a chapter in an edited volume. His answer was yes. In my view, this is not very practicable. Le...
Re: Pages 5.0
One more reason not to use Pages anymore at all. I'm a Mellel user for the most part, but for some simple documents/note taking, I didn't mind the simplicity of Pages. But it seems that the programme is getting worse after every upgrade. Sad, since I wrote my whole M.Phil. dissertation using Pages 4...
Re: Pages 5.0
Jon,
Am I doing something wrong when, upon pressing Command-Y, the citation isn't entered into a Pages 5.0 doc?

make common settings into "specific" settings?
I think it's a bit unfortunate that the "page range" settings are only adjustable for all reference types at once. For instance, some manuals of style require a colon in a citation of a journal and a comma for all other types. Under the present circumstances, however, that's impossible to ...

Re: Further APA requirements
I use Chicago/SBL Handbook/Turabian style of formats in my writing, so I'd use prefixes like this:
1. Always in Bibliography
2. Always in a long citation (i.e., first note)
3. Never in subsequent, short citations
