Re: Italics grayed out

Thanks, that seems to have solved the problem.

Re: Italics grayed out

Actually, I take it back. Changing the font in the format descriptions ("book chapter" etc.) allows me to italicize the "t." for title, "v" for edited volume etc. -- but it has no effect on the output. Again, this is all new behavior since updating. So there's still a p...

Re: Italics grayed out

Thanks -- apparently everything had indeed defaulted to Lucida Grande. It was fine in version 11, but in any case I have what I want now.

Italics grayed out

I am trying to get book titles in Italics in a journal bibliography format that I've created, but in the Fonts menu, "Italics" is grayed out. I can get bold and underline, but not italics. What is going wrong? P.S. I am pretty sure the italics were there in this format before I upgraded to...

Re: Upgrade issue

Allow me to second this complaint as well. I am not a software developer, so I don't know what is involved in having a more rapid registration response -- but I do know that the norm is to hear back almost instantly. Alternatively, a trial version that is fully functional for X number of days would ...

Re: Way to force capitalization of proper nouns in sentence case

Well no, the comma will work fine for pro vs. PRO, even in the same title. But it will also freeze the capitalization of the word "Representation" as either upper-case or lower-case at the beginning. That's the trade-off with the comma system. One journal/publisher may want "represent...

Re: Reference Window font size

I missed the "References" entry on that pull-down menu somehow. Thanks!

Re: Way to force capitalization of proper nouns in sentence case

I would be happiest with a prettier on-screen presentation of this, like whatever the program does with italics etc. So that, for example we could see something like this: Romance clitics, verb movement, and PRO . Where the blue text would internally have the same effect as the mark-up you have in m...

Re: Way to force capitalization of proper nouns in sentence case

Just to pick an extreme example from papers in linguistics, here are two references to papers, formatted as required by one of the major journals. The key point is that "PRO" and "pro" are actually very different things: Kayne, Richard S. 1991. Romance clitics, verb movement, and...

Re: Way to force capitalization of proper nouns in sentence case

Well I don't know anything about the internals of Bookends, but is there really a dangerous slippery slope from allowing a character to be marked somehow as a "hard uppercase" to building in an entire markup language? We can already add an italic or boldface attribute to words inside a tit...

Re: Way to force capitalization of proper nouns in sentence case

It would actually be very useful to be able to mark an individual word within a title so that it remains capitalized exactly as you enter it. I am familiar with the "sentence & title case" list in the "Scan & Bib" pane in Preferences, but while that's a good solution for ...

Reference Window font size

Somehow as a consequence of one of the recent updates, the Reference Window is now using a huge font size. I have hunted in the user manual and prowled around in the Preferences panes, but can't seem to find how to fix this. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Re: PayPal?

Gulp. My apologies! In (only slight) defense, let me blame my failure to notice your PayPal links to three things: 1. The absence of the familiar PayPal logo, which would have caught my eye. (Don't go adding it now and claiming it was always there! It's not!!) 2. The absence of PayPal on the payment...

PayPal?

Having just had to give your somewhat 1990s-ish order page a Visa/MasterCard number that I'd rather not have (no American Express option), I'd like to request that you consider accepting PayPal payment in the future. Of course, I am looking forward to many free upgrades before this becomes an issue ...
