Hello,
i administrate workgroup computers of my fellow colleagues at a science department. We have regular problems with the synchronization of bookends databases in connection with attachments.
To understand the problem, i write down our configuration.
For the reference management of our team we use bookends. To keep the database of everyone up to date we have a central database in a network folder with which every database on the local user computer syncs at the beginning and end of a session with the Bookends Synchronization (Option on every computer is "use last sync dates"). In this network folder are also the attachments stored. Everyone is always connected to this network-folder.
The problem is that after a period of time the local database can`t find the attachments anymore, although the files are still at the same place. What it makes it more strange is, that the colllegue who created the database, can still see them in the locally synced database and in the central database stored in the network folder. The problems at the databases of the other computers are still the same after "rebuilding". The also can not see the attachments when they access the central database.
I assumed that has something to do ownershiprights of the database or the attachment folder and the attachments!? Or is it not possible to store the attachments on a central server and access it from computers in the network? What is a better way to keep our databases and attachments in sync and stable?
Thankyou in Advanced
Norman
