Groups Pane View

Post by MBNelson »

I just did something, while resizing, that eliminated the Groups Pane completely from view (and even slightly truncated the reference list, cutting it off the "A" of "Authors" in the first field.

Tried lots of things to fix it, including quiting and restarting Bookends, many resizing techniques, and all of the view and windows options. Multiple times.

Finally, found a post in a thread that said that "command-option-g" will open and close that pane. It worked! No more problems!

So this is a suggestion post: perhaps have a menu item for doing the same thing? Or clearer instructions somewhere?

That's not really necessary. If you close the Groups pane all the way, the slider "dimple" is still visible on far left. You just grab it and slide to the right.

That is definitely how it should work.

But something went very wrong in my window (a fluke? a bug? a ?) such that the dimple was not visible. As I said in the post, the window was cut-off on the left side just in front of the "u" in Author in the main reference list pane. And there was no way to scroll left or do anything else to click to the left. Quitting the program, restarting the computer, etc. had no effect. The group pane was just gone.

I'm not a computer expert, but my IT people occasionally ask me for advice so I don't think I'm a dunce either. This was just something weird.

If this ever happens again I'll be sure to take a screen shot because it was definitely abnormal behavior!

Hi,

Please do. The Groups Pane dimple should always be visible.
