I have been trying to find a way of differentiating how names are dealt with.
My issue is that I sometimes need a name as surname and initials, and sometimes as full name. For example, if a report is written by an author I need surname/initials, but if a report is authored by an organisation I need full name. I thought I might solve this problem by using the 'authors' field for personal authors and the 'editors' field for organisations, and then changing the 'others like' to 'editors' and 'full name' in the field below. But this changes it for both author and editor.
Ideally a newspaper article written by Rod Liddle (entered in the 'author' field) would be 'Liddle, R', and an article written by Associated Press (entered in the 'editors' field) would remain 'Associated Press', not 'A Press'.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Louise

Re: Full name for organisations
From the user guide:
Interesting choice of example, by the way. Influenced by this?If the author is an institution, place a comma after the last character and Bookends will not attempt to format it when creating a bibliography. Commas elsewhere in the name will be output as entered. For example, you would enter "The American Council on Diet, Health, and Fitness" as
The American Council on Diet, Health, and Fitness,

My reference was not related to that particular discussion, but thanks for the interesting link, Nicka
Anyone have any suggestions to the above mentioned issue?

Re: Full name for editor field
nicka answered the question in the quote from our user guide. Simply put, end the institution's name with a comma and Bookends won't parse it, e.g.
The American Council on Diet, Health, and Fitness,
Jon
