Hello
I've been using Bookends for a few years - I have a very moderate database (about 400 items) but I find the programme slow to load the database and I have to rebuild it fairly often - that is, I start the programme and get a warning that the database should be rebuilt as a precaution. This has happened through versions 9, 10 and now 11).
I make fairly regular backups, anyway, but I am wondering if there is something that I can do which will prevent this, or whether there is something I am already doing which is causing it, or whether it is just the way of it with databases. Often the programme has crashed just prior to this (I have one other programme that is a crasher, but it is for lots of other people too). This is a new MacBook Pro with new everything and it is crashes about every 6th or 7th time I use it.
Many thanks for any insight.

How often to rebuild?
Re: How often to rebuild?
Hi, you shouldn't have to rebuild that often, of course. But I wonder if the database is being damaged secondary to the crashes you mentioned (that can happen, for example, if a write to disk is occurring when the crash happens). If you're preferences haven't been extensively modified, I'd try removing the files "Bookends 9 Preferences", "Bookends 10 Preferences", and "Bookends 11 Preferences" from your preferences folder and relaunching Bookends. And make sure your default format is one that we ship. If neither help, please follow this up with tech support (support@sonnysoftware.com).

OK. Thanks. It has only had Bookends 11 on it so I have done that and will see how it goes and post to tech support if it is still a problem. I am using a format you supplied.
