Huge preferences file

Post by Dave »

Dear,

I just found that may BE 11 preference file has a size 662MB (says Finder). I was just wondering, isn't that a bit big for a preference file? What is stored in there? Of course, it may be due to the info stored in there but I just wondered. My library contains 3000+ references.
Thank you in advance for any info.

Sounds quite strange to me – mine is 594 KB with ~1500 references…

Hi,

I had one other report of that a few years ago, and it seemed to be due to export from Papers -> Bookends. I couldn't reproduce it, though. Could that be the case here?

If it's working, it's working. But I would delete that file and re-register Bookends when you launch it again. This won't be a problem unless you have changed a lot of the defaults.

I have used export Papers -> Bookends a lot indeed. So yes. Will delete the pref file. Thank you for your replies!

OK. Note that if you're linking to pdfs that are still in the Papers default location, you'll need to reattach *one* of those pdfs (at the top of folder hierarchy) so that Bookends will know where to search for those attachments. If you've made the top Papers attachment folder your default (in Bookends) then it will work for you automatically.
