Translator who also wrote notes

Post by maximus1212 »

How would I get the footnotes and bibliography to cite someone as "translation and notes by" in the bib. and "trans. and notes by" in the footnotes using Turabian?

Thanks!

In general, you'd want to edit Turabian and Turabian footnotes to add the "quoted text" you mention. It might be advisable to create a new reference Type (Trans+Notes, or something like that) and apply that Type to the corresponding references. Then create this Type in the format and edit that (as opposed to editing an existing Type like Book or Book Chapter).

Thank you. How do I go about creating a new type?

Also, is it possible to format a field such as "User 1" for something like that rather than creating an entirely new type?

Thanks,
Brian

Basically, in Preferences you rename an "Unused Type" to whatever you want. Please see the User Guide for details.

Yes, same thing -- rename the field User1 to whatever you want in Preferences.

Thanks, Jon.

One last question concerning this...I was able to rename the user field, but was unable to find within the user manual where I redefine the output of the field ("trans. and notes by" in footnotes and "Translation and notes by" in the bibliography).

That would be in the format.
