search for a specific journal name

Post by dspady »

How do I search in my database for articles from a specific journal. e.g. I want to find all the articles I have that were printed in Lancet. How do I do this as there is no search term for Journal.
I have tried Search Text words begin with Lancet
and Type is Journal Article

But that also brings up other articles published elsewhere that might have Lancet somewhere in their record. I want to find ONLY articles published in Lancet. I am sure there must be a simple way to do this, but I cannot find it in the manual, or here.

thanks

I'm not sure what you mean. You can explicitly search the journal field in Find dialog (Command-F) -- the popup menu at the far right, the default setting being All Fields, but you can select any specific field you want.

I know there is the default setting All Fields, but in the list of fields below that, there is no field called 'Journal'

There should be (unless you changed the names of the fields in preferences). Please contact me offlist with a screen snap of what the popup menu in the Find dialog is showing.

BINGO!
I created a form called "report" that I used for cataloging reports, and I changed the name of the "journal" field to "organization" and somehow the default reference type became report. I changed the default back to journal and now when I search, there is a field called "Journal". So all is well.

Many thanks
