Newbee Question re: Notecards

Post by monstordh »

I apologize if this question is redundant, but I searched for a long time through the threads without finding anything to match my needs.

I'm trying to do something that should be very simple. When I copy the text of my notecard into Mellel (my word processor) via "Copy Note and Citation" and then scan my document, my notecard text completely disappears an is replaced only by the reference. I want to be able to keep my notecard text (after all, isn't this the purpose of the notecard?), but with the proper citation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

You've hit on a limitation of using this with Mellel. Mellel treats all the text as a temp citation, and therefore it's replaced with the final citation (this doesn't happen with other word processors). We need to work with RedleX so that Mellel recognizes the text is coming in to parts.

The workaround for now would be to move the notes and the temp citation in 2 steps: Copy Citation; open the notecard, copy, switch to Mellel, paste. I know that's a bother, but it will work until we come up with a solution.
