Hi,
I reinstalled the latest version of Bookends because of another issue. After launching the new version the scanning of MS Word files no longer works until a bibliography is created - the process stops in between with the "finding references" window open until the software stops reacting. The only way to get out is to Force-Quit.
What I did already: Reboot the system, reboot Word and Bookends, unlink and re-link Word and Bookends, rebuild and repaid the library.
Anything else I can try to fix this?

Could it be the file size/presence of lots of graphics? See this page

Thanks for the quick response - unfortunately I made no change to the system or did not install any other software. The Word File is not heavy and has no images. It has track changes, but they were in before already. Saving as RTF does not solve the problem, the scanning process still stops and Bookends crashes.

And by the way - I also tried other Word files which worked fine in the past with Bookends and the same thing happens. Scanning stops and Bookends crashes....

I don't know what's going on. Sounds like a local issue is interfering with the scan. You can try a different format. If that still fails, try rebooting in Safe mode (Shift key held down). There are general troubleshooting approaches.

Other formats work, just the one I need (Vancouver) does not...can I reimport it from somewhere?

Many thanks - reinstalling the formats catalogue worked and the problem is solved.
