Hi Jon / Forum,
I'm working on a big lit review library just now of about 450 references.
I was looking for a way of 'sorting' these into ones I have read and ones I have printed out.
I tried creating a 'field'? By changing one of the User# ones to 'Read' and 'Printed', but I'd like to be able to 'batch tag' this way, i.e. select 50 or refs that I have printed out and tag those as 'Printed', Read or whatever so that I can filter and see these. Doing what I did and it seems that I can only tag these one at a time so I'm sure I'm coming at this the wrong way.
Is there a way to 'batch tag references?
Thanks
Philip
PS: Another great feature would be the ability to see in the library which of the 450 refs I have used and inserted into the paper and wick ones I haven't. Is this possible?
batch tagging/sorting
Re: batch tagging/sorting
Why not create static groups: Read, Printed, etc.? Then select and drag the corresponding references to these groups (or use a right-click to add them, or assign a Command-# to them and then use the keyboard).
As for which refs have you used -- when you scan a paper, the references you used will be in the Hits List. You can see which are used, make a group from the Hits List, color label them, or any of a dozen more methods to keep track of these.

P.S. If you want to continue using a field in each reference to keep track of this, take a look at the Global Changes options. That allows you to operate on fields as a "batch".
