Bookends - latest version VERY unstable

Post by Rocky Vega »

After installing the latest version of Bookends (v 12.6.2) all my smart groups was converted to folders without any references. Trying to create new smart folders now, but the app auto-quits all the time. The 4th time during the past 30 minutes. Anyone else experiencing the same? I have Mac OS X 10.11.1.

This was a bug that was fixed within a few hours of release and uploaded in a silent update (the watch folder bug was similarly fixed a day or two later when a user reported it). Please download 12.6.2 again. If your groups don't reappear, do a Flatten Group Hierarchy (right-click on groups) and rearrange the groups/folders as you like them.

I just downloaded it a few hours before writing the two posts.
Anyway, I downloaded it again just a few minutes ago - same problems, even with flatten group list hierarchy.

In that case you should contact tech support directly with your library instead of posting on the forum, where nothing can actually be done.

hey there,

I have the same problem. it appeared new, as of Dec. 6th.
so, I will also contact support about this. but it seems good people are aware this seems to be a systematic problem.

very best!

hello all,

just to report my experiences:
my problem was that with 12.6.3. folders suddenly were shown as static groups – thus rendering the contents unreadable.

so, what you can do is send in you library file, as proposed here.

what helped in my case, as I was unsure the problem laid in the library, was to actually reinstall an older version. (in my case the earliest I could retrieve was 12.5 as there is no legacy page).
– this actually turned up all my lists again! though this would tell me the problem doesn´t reside in the library itself, I am not sure. it just seemed the easiest way to restore funtionality ... at least for the sunday evening work-load ;-)

very best!

Do a Flatten Groups Hierarchy on your database, then open with 12.6.3. If this doesn't help, you can zip and send me your database and I'll take a look.

hello Jon,

thx. this helped.
better re-ordering the flattened lists, though they are many, than being stuck with 12.5.
so, thanks!
