Searches in notecards

Post by pepemac »

Hello.
The capability of Bookends to make complex searches with SQL/Regex inside my library (more than 3000 pdf's) is absolutely fantastic and exceeds that offered by other similar software I used.
Although, I miss the same powerful features in the notecards searches. Specifically, the possibility to make boolean searches or, to be more exact, to use REGEX.
As you can see in the picture attached, when I search by [lesson content] (without quotes), I get notecards with lesson AND content AND 'lesson content'.
Although, when I write a left quote ['lesson content], the results only include notecards with "lesson content".
Is there any way to make searches in this field using boolean operators? For example ['lesson content' AND mvpa] present in the same notecard
Thank you.

See p. 61 in the User Guide.

Live search ANDs all words. But you can force Bookends to search for phrases (and AND them, too) with quote marks, not apostrophes. You can combine phrase searches and word searches:

"lesson content" mvpa

(the space = AND)

Hello Jon.
As you can see in the screenshots, with left apostrophe works, but with quote marks, not.

With quote marks: https://www.dropbox.com/s/roo5uyzts2h4a ... 4.png?dl=0

The apostrophe is simply ignored. The quote marks will work with a normal live search. Perhaps they don't with a notecard search (which is a special variant).

Hello Jon.
As you can noted, with notecards dont work but with - by instance - abstract fields, works fine.
The extension of this feature to notecards, will be possible in the future?
Thank you very much for your help.

Actually, the search is fine. It's the display of the notecards that isn't working. I'll have to take a look.

This should be fixed in Bookends 12.7 beta 7. Download it and give it a try.
