and another thing.....
There was another request I just remembered. This is especially handy in the abstract field, but applies elsewhere as well. I am used to being able to go to the front of a line using command> arrow keys, but in Bookends, I get thrown off because the command>arrow keys go to a different entry. Can these 'default' Mac shortcut keys be kept in Bookends, and another shortcut key found to move to different entries?

hmm, in Word (I have 2004) as well as Mail (Tiger) and Mellel (my processor of choice) command>arrow moves you to the front and back of the line (as well as Firefox, I am doing it right now
) while alt>arrow is word to word. The only programs that don't follow this on my whole system is Bookends and Powerpoint. It would be ideal if the same type of shortcut key did the same thing throughout different programs. Cheers!

I'm using Word 2004, too, and it doesn't do that for me. Maybe it's a setting deep within the bowels of Words' preferences.danzac wrote:hmm, in Word (I have 2004)
In any case, it's not something Carbon apps do natively, it seems, and the workaround take a lot of effort. I'll think about it.

Well since I'm at it, I'll mention another on my wish list (I am just being picky I realize, but every little tidbit makes it better). Can there be a copy citation button on the List view, or could you at least change the shortcut key to command> W ..... command>Y is a bit annoying, it takes both hands on the keyboard, and the switch from Mellel + clicking on the needed entry is all mousework. Just a little thing I know....

I'm full of them
once again forgive my pickiness, but I'm working alot with Bookends at the moment, so I keep thinking of things.
I was wondering, is it possible for the three folders that now sit in library>application support to simply be stored in the Bookends folder in Documents. This seems to make the most sense to me, since our attachments are kept there. That way, someone can keep any of their databases in that folder as well, and for backup purposes, you only need to save one folder instead of saving from all over the place. Is that possible?

Anything is possible, but the distribution of the subfolders was actually done based on suggestions made by users on this forum. And I agree with them. The Custom Folders are not documents -- they are more analogous to plug-ins (i.e. supporting files), not documents, and so belong in Application Support. As it is, there are only two folders you need to know about if you want to, say, move Bookends to another Mac:
~/Documents
~/Library/Application Support/Bookends

Instead of making a new thread......
Instead of making a new thread, I'll just post here. I was under the impression that after I scan my Mellel document, the generated document (the finished product) could itself be scanned again to change the format. Is that correct? If so, it ain't working for me! For all of my papers, I have to keep a saved copy of the pre-scanned document if I want to change to format. Am I doing something wrong?
