Backup

Post by shatners.bassoon »

If I backup my library, is the resultant Library.bdb file mostly self-contained e.g. folders within the library, colour labels for selected refs etc, or is this info contained somewhere else?

i.e. if I'm installing bookends on a new computer what do I essentially need to copy over? So far it seems I need:
(a) the .bdb library file
(b) Custom glossaries
(c) Custom formats

Is that everything covered (preferences aside)?
thanks!

The backup library contains everything that's in the library file (which is all metadata, groups, etc. -- PDFs are stored separately on the HD).

You should copy the library, the custom folders, and the attachments. I think that's it. Do not copy preferences, they contain some HD-specific information that won't work on the new Mac.
