Mark all current group as hits

Post by mwra »

[Sorry tried to search for this but all terms rejected as 'too common']

The Biblio -> Bibliography will export only hits. hits are no persistent, destroyed [sic] by any new database search. I've defined bibliographies for use in different draft papers in separate groups. To export these they must defined as 'hits', but oddly there seems to be no mechanism to mark all of the current selection at 'hits'.

Am I misunderstanding the process, or missing some menu option? Given the likelihood of the task I suspect this is user ignorance. If so, please point me at the correct menu option.

There are two ways:

1. Use the Refs menu, or right-click on the reference list, and select Mark All -- all the refs showing will be marked.

or the way I prefer,

2. Shift-click on an empty checkbox -- all the refs showing will be marked (clicking on a marked checkbox does the opposite, unmarking all of the references).

That's great, I didn't know that. Shift-click on empty box has double purpose. Thanks

@jon, thanks.

For later readers, as at v12.7.8, the menu method is: Refs -> Mark -> Mark All References.

The shortcut for the latter is [Cmd]+[Opt]+[Shift]+A, noting that its not a toggle. The shortcut only ticks all items in the current view.

The Shift+click method is a toggle. Shift+click on any tick box, ticks all items in the current view. If all boxes are ticked, all items are unticked (note if some items were previously ticked, the toggle is not back to that selection).

In either shortcut case, the action is not buffered in undo. (For clarity - i'm not suggesting it should be, just reporting status quo).

I'd consider making [Cmd]+[Opt]+[Shift]+A an all/nothing toggle too.

Anyway, it all works nicely. thanks to everyone for the rapid response.

To unmark all use Hits -> Clear Hits List, or from the keyboard Option-Shift-Command-H.
