Bookends issue with High Sierra

Post by markallison »

I realize High Sierra hasn't been released yet, and don't expect you to support a beta, but just wanted to give you guys a heads-up about a fairly trivial issue:

When I export a bibliography, the progress indicator shows the total number of entries being exported, but doesn't show the running total. I regularly export over 5,000 entries, and don't know how much longer the process will take once it's started.

Thanks for making such a great product!

Thanks for the report, I'll take a look. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of little issues with High Sierra. I've already run into two PDFKit bugs -- we'll collect these cases once High Sierra is out and see what workarounds are possible while waiting for a fix.

I have just installed High Sierra.

There always are some bugs with PDFkit. Long PDFs make some white spaces in the attachement viewer.

Can we hope some improvements on this point with your fix ?

Thank you,

Gustave

This isn't a High Sierra issue (it's been around for a few years). It will be fixed with 64-bit Bookends comes out.

Not for me anyone else...there are several threads on this topic in this forum. Remember, you only see it if your zooming the PDF (or showing it with Automatically Resize). If not there is no problem.

P.S. I'm responding to Gustave's issue, not the one you reported at the top of this thread.

Nice !! :D I thought it was a PDFkit bug. It only appears on continuous viewing. 64-bit Bookends is going to be a major update ?

Yes, the progress or counter is not visible at this time, but no worries it works just fine.

Another bug (a PDFKit bug?): black pages on attachment preview.
It seems that pages scanned with 'color' appears right; pages scanned in black and white appears black; pages edited with color and b/w elements, these b/w elements appears black!

Send me a PDF that has this issue. I can report it to Apple.

For those following this thread, the PDFs rendered properly in High Sierra for me, so the issue probably is not due to new bugs in High Sierra.

Hi Jon,

Just an update: the mentionated problem occurs with pdf files created in pdf/a format.

You have another PDF that doesn't render properly for you? Please send it to me.

P.S. I just opened a PDF/a document in Bookends and saw no issues.
