What is default ordering schema in online search?

What is default ordering schema in online search?

Just checking... Are results in the online search default listed by "relevance", as deemed by a Bookends algorithm? Or something else?

No, they are listed in the order received from the online source, which usually has its own method for ranking results.

FWIW to other readers, Wikipedia says
Research has shown that Google Scholar puts high weight especially on citation counts[21] and words included in a document's title.[22] As a consequence, the first search results are often highly cited articles.
