Find out which group(s) an article is stored in?

Post by erin3900 »

Hi -- Is there a way to find out which group(s) I've stored a particular article in? For example, if I do a search in the "All" group and find a particular article in the search results that come up, is there some way that I can find out which static group(s) I have saved that article to?

Hold down Option-Shift and the groups the selected reference belongs to will be highlighted in color.

P.S. You can also have Bookends display the groups a reference belongs to in the Concise view on the right.

Great -- thanks so much, Jon. The shortcut you gave works perfectly. I'm trying to figure out how to get the Groups to display on the right side of the screen but can't quite seem to get it. Do I go to Bookends -> Preferences -> Refs and then change one of the Field Labels to "Groups" and then manually add the group information? That seems clunky, so I feel like there is probably another way that I'm missing.

And while I'm asking about this, let me ask too -- is there a way that I can delete one or more of the Field Labels that are currently included for a given reference type (e.g., Journal article)? In other words, can I customize the Field Labels that appear for a particular reference type?

No, you go to Preferences -> Summary, select the Concise View you want to alter (probably Summary (Others), and check the checkbox next to Groups. Then drag reorder the list so the groups are output where you want them in the display (and add punctuation like Returns (¬) before and after the groups so they are displayed nicely).

You can edit the fields labels in preferences. Refs tab.
