period disappears

Hi all,

I created a bib format for law commentaries in which I use the User2 field to enter the edition of the cited work. I want the output to like this:

'2. Aufl.' (i.e. German for '2. Ed.')

So I entered '2. Aufl.' in the User2 field. But in the bibliography the edition is output as

'2. Aufl'

only.

Why is Bookends omitting the concluding period? Has anybody else ever come across this issue?
