Scoped term lists?

Is it possible to make the term lists (most usefully for authors) scoped to the selected group. It seems to default to whole database scope and the list windows 'filter' is an in-list string match. I'm interested in seeing the per-author record count for a group corresponding to my current 'thesis' reference group, being NNN items as opposed to N,NNN in the whole database. Or if no a term list, as some other report (with scoped author counts)

Appreciate this may not be possible as things stand but I thought to ask in case I'd overlooked something in the manual.

You can't do that with term lists, but you can with the tag cloud, if that helps.
