Scanning document does not create references

Hi, I have completed an empirical paper of around 22000 I have input all my references using bookends. It was initially creating a reference list/biblography the end when I scanned it. Its been reviewed by my supervisors a few times, edited and I've had to add references. I tried to scan the document to add the new references and its not doing it. It just look like it is but the references are not being updated and there is no reference list/biblography. I have edited and send my supervisor updates of the document to review and they've sent it back but I dont know if that has an impact. Please can anyone help with the problem. Thanks.

Thank you, I seem to have worked it out! I managed to reset my computer and reopen the document and scan it and it worked!
