Recently Bookends has started crashing. The app becomes unresponsive, with a spinning beachball cursor, and I have to force quit.
I have not yet found any common cause. Sometimes the crash occurs after launching the app, sometimes when I attempt to search, sometimes when adding a PDF.
How can I investigate this? Console.app does not have any Bookends crash reports. Is there anywhere else I can check logs?
(I'm using MacOS 14.5 on a 2019 Macbook Pro, in case its useful).
Why is Bookmarks crashing
Re: Why is Bookmarks crashing
I suggest you Rebuild the library. If the crashes (hangs) persist, please create a new empty library and work with it for a bit. If you still experience problems contact support@sonnysoftware.com.

Re: Why is Bookmarks crashing
Hi Jon, thanks for this advice.
I have rebuilt the library and so far Bookends seems to be more snappy.
I'll report back if the issue returns.
For future reference, where should I be looking to inspect any logs of these events?

Re: Why is Bookmarks crashing
There is no event to log. If the library is damaged you can experience unexpected behavior. In the case of a hang of any app on your Mac, you can capture the API calls made in the infinite loop with Activity Monitor, that is unlikely to be of any use to you. You can check the integrity of the library at any time with File -> Database Management -> Verify.
