Search is not going through my notes

Hi,

Very recently, the search function stopped going through my notes and notecards. It does this both when selecting "All fields", but also on specific "Note" and "Notecard" searches. I have run a few library maintenance commands (rebuild, reindex), with no success.

Any help would be appreciated.

For those following this thread, there was no problem searching notes in the library. The issue was that the OP wanted to find text in PDF highlights, and Live Search does not search through those. Note that not even Spotlight indexes PDF highlights.

There is a workaround in Bookends, which some might find useful. That would be to extract the PDF highlights (File -> PDF Notes and Annotations) to the Bookends Notes and Annotations window, then press Command-F to search.

It’s a good workaround.

Also, just adding the PDF annotation to Bookends notes gives me the results needed. It’s a different way to have references come up in a live search besides keywords or author names. I find it particularly useful for edited books with multiple authors.
