Bookends 9.0.2 beta 3

Post by Jon »

Beta 3 is available. It fixes bugs in Duplicate references and a handful of other places. The highlighting of text in the Info Drawer can now be turned off (it is on by default). If you have an earlier beta, you must rebuild your database for this to work properly.

This is probably the last beta. The download link can be found in the Announcement forum.

A bug?

Post by niklas »

Hi, I have been using the beta now for a while and haven't seen anything really strange, apart from one small thing:

It concerns the new feature of exchanging repeated authors in an author-date citation group with just the year, after the first occurrence. It seems that Bookends always does this as long as the first author is identical.

{Smith, 2000, #8913; Smith et al., 2004 #80988} would thus be replaced with (Smith, 2000, 2004), which is hardly correct.

regards, Niklas

Hi niklas,

It is correct if the format calls for it (you didn't say which format you are using). This is a new feature (see the beta release notes). You control it with settings in the format (Use year-only for repeated authors). Please uncheck this and it should revert to the usual author-date citation.

If you have problems with this new feature, please contact me directly so we can see if it is a bug.
