Hyphenated (n-dashed) dates in bib output formats?

Post by tharpold »

Several of the texts I work with on a regular basis are multi-volume works published over a series of years. For example:

Freud, Sigmund. Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud. 24 vols. Ed. James Strachey. Trans. James Strachey, Anna Freud, Alix Strachey, and Alan Tyson. London: Hogarth Press, 1955–66.

Needham, Joseph, ed. Science and Civilization in China. Cambridge University Press: Cambridge, 1954-2000.

Note the publishing years in each case, separated by an en dash.

When BE generates formatted bibliographies including these items, only the first year is included (and only the first year is shown in the list view): in the above examples, I've edited the output to include the second year, as per the actual contents of the date field in each case.

Is there a way to force BE to include the entirety of the date field, and not crop the field off at the first integral year?

Hi tharpold.

Open the format and UNCHECK "Use year only for date".

Um, duh. Thanks, Jon -- I think I turned this option on to deal with some unwanted month-year entries in the field, and forgot about it.
