ATLA RIS export

Post by danzac »

for my ATLA import filter, volume and issue each have their own source tag. SBL format takes journal and issue simply like this, 10/2. Is there a way I can tell Bookends to put a / in between the info, and to not put a / if there is no issue #?

You're talking about two different things, filters and formats. They don't have anything to do with one another.

For your format, turn off "include issue # with volume) and cite the two pieces of data independently:

sorry, I didn't make my question clear. I like to place the volume and issue in the volume field like this- 10/2. Is there a way I can get the filter to place the volume and issue info in the volume field in this way (I don't like having to create an "issue" field, it should just go with the volume). Do other people put issue in its own field?

For journals it should not be 10/2. It should be 10(2) -- Bookends understands what that means. Then you can cite the volume and issue independently of one another. To answer your question, you can't have the filter import the info as 10/2. You could go to the trouble to do a find/replace that would get you there, I suppose, but it would be a mistake to do that.

Okay sorry one more thing. If the RIS format is giving me volume and issue on their own lines, how do I import it into my volume field as 10(2) ?

okay nevermind again. I didn't realize this was a built-in feature, I was trying to figure out how to set it up that way.
