print list of unique IDs

Post by ebenhero »

I've just purchased a filing cabinet, and have filed all the hard copies of articles I have listed in Bookends according to unique ID. What I'd like to do is to print out a list of the articles I have copies of each week so that I don't always have to use the computer to find the hard copy of a particular article. But I'm having problems. Firstly, how do I print in a format that shows the unique IDs? And how do I get them in alphabetical order? Note that I only have hard copies for a portion of the articles I have in the database, and have created a field where I indicate that I have a hard copy. So I want to select just these articles, and print them in alphabetical order with their unique IDs. Thankyou, and I hope my explanation wasn't too confusing! Cheers

Hi,

To output the unique id, use

@

in the format (take a look at the Special Characters pop-up menu in the format to see many useful symbols).

To get them in alphabetical order, eithe have the format be sorted, or if not, manually sort the Hits List (a Hits menu option).

Thanks very much. Have got that worked out now. Just one thing I can't do though, and can only imagine I must be missing something obvious. How do you add a selection of references to the hits list? I can only do it by checking each one; not practical when I need to add over a hundred. I can print them, however, by just printing the selection.

Check or uncheck one with the Shift key held down -- all will follow (if more than one is selected, just the selected references will be affected).

Alternative and more obvious methods will be added in 9.0.3.
